Warrior of the Month – Jen Werba Story

Growing up I was always a very active child.  My grandmother actually nicknamed me “Rapid Transit” because I loved to run.  As a teenager and young adult I played tennis, was on the swim team, took gymnastics, cheered in high school & college, ran long-distance races, always had friends that were active (and fun!) and didn’t really have to work hard to stay in shape.

When I was in my 20s, I moved from Atlanta, GA to New York City to experience the city life.  My first apartment was conveniently located across the street from Levain Bakery, a bakery in the Upper West Side that has the most amazing 1/2 pound cookies.  In addition to those glorious cookies, I loved all of the food and experiences the city had to offer.   I quickly put on the “Freshman 15” but as an adult.

When I met my husband, I decided I wanted to get back into shape for our wedding.  I worked with a personal trainer 2 days a week and ran 2 days a week.  This formula worked for me for many years, even after 2 kiddos and 2 C-sections.

At one point my husband got a job opportunity that moved us down to Jacksonville, FL.  In December 2014 we found out that I was pregnant and I had our third child at 40 via C-section.  Because I was at an advanced maternal age, the doctors wouldn’t allow me to workout throughout my pregnancy which made getting back into shape even more challenging.

Six months after having our 3rd child, my usual formula wasn’t working.  I needed to try something different and knew how awesome Phil, Tyler and Lori were from my personal training days, so I signed up for their group classes at Training for Warriors (TFW).

My goals were pretty simple when I started.  I wanted to lose my baby weight, get fit so I could keep up with my 3 kiddos and feel comfortable in a bikini on the beach.  All of those goals were met but I realized that there was so much more to gain at TFW.

The motivational stories, the coaches (Phil, Tyler, Johnny, Lori and Katie) and the people that I work out with every day (“The Familia”) motivate me to be the best I can be inside and outside of the gym.  As a result, I’m 42 years old and I can finally do pull ups (plural!), deadlift 205 lbs and sprint like I could in my 20s.  I even tried the Whole 30 diet based on multiple suggestions from people at the gym and I swear it significantly reduced my desire for sugary things.  After my last annual physical, my doctor told me to keep up with whatever I’m doing because all my levels were perfect.

In addition to having 3 kiddos, I also work full time and often have to travel so I know how easy it is to make excuses but once you experience the coaches, “The Familia”, the workouts, the nutritional guidance and see the results, you won’t want to miss a TFW class/workout.

Do you struggle with some of the same things Jen struggled with? You CAN make that change and TRANSFORM your life also! FILL OUT THE FORM BELOW and get in contact with one of our CERTIFIED COACHES!
