Meet Denise, she was knocked down hard, but got right back up.  She decided to make one of her biggest setbacks, her greatest comeback!!  This is her story of how TFW  changed her life and brought out the WARRIOR within!


When I came to Training for Warriors, I had balance and coordination issues.  The most embarrassing injury was when I was running and fell on my face and broke my nose.  I had to walk a mile back to my house with my hands full of blood and I had to talk to myself to keep from going into shock.  I was an athlete in high school – I ran cross country, winter, and spring track – how one falls on their face and breaks their nose is beyond comprehension – my arms and legs were not working that day.  At this point, my daughter said I was no longer able to run outside by myself.

I saw articles in the Between the Bridges magazine about Training for Warriors.  The results people were getting and what they got out of the program inspired me.  I emailed Coach Phil and said I would like to sign up for the 8-week Transformation class starting in September 2016.  I was ready to do something about my weight and I couldn’t do it on my own.  I had never tried group classes so I had no idea what to expect or if I would even like it.  What did I have to lose, it was only 8-weeks right?
I went to the meeting and was encouraged by a truly amazing individual who spoke to the group that night – Stephanie Hollis.  I attended the first class and thought this was not so bad and the coach said that was just the warm up and then I realized that I am really out of shape.

Well I have come a long way, I work out at least 5 days a week and I love every minute of it.  I came to Training for Warriors to lose weight and I can tell you I have lost the weight and I have gained so much more.  I have learned so much about nutrition and how important self-care is.  I have gained my confidence back and the stories the coaches tell us before every workout are very motivating.  I have made friends with people I would never have met otherwise who inspire me to be a better person.

When I joined Training for Warriors I had no idea that it would not only transform me physically but mentally as well.  Things don’t always go as you plan or want them to and at TFW you learn to keep pushing and going after what you want.  I have the strength to do that now and I owe it all to the coaches at TFW.  There is no such thing as failure if you get up, dust yourself off, and keep going.
