Warrior of the Month Stephanie Cox

Five years ago, at the age of 42, I was in a bad spot both physically and mentally. I never previously had a weight problem, but due to stress, depression and hormonal changes, I had put on over 40lbs. I have always been very active and had some form of workout routine, so it was very hard for me to look at myself in the mirror.

About 4 years ago, I saw an advertisement for TFW on Facebook, and they talked about not only getting your body in shape, but your mind, too. That really sparked my interest and I felt like this might be exactly what I needed. I reached out to Coach Phil, to join the Familia, and start my journey. Even though I discovered TFW 4 years ago, I didn’t start being consistent with my workout routine until a little over 2 years ago. I immediately started to lose the weight dropping about 18 lbs, but still found myself at a plateau and wanted to really get to my ideal goal weight.

Fast forward to January 2019, Coach made a statement that really made me think. He said, “You can’t out train your diet”. Even though I have always been a somewhat healthy eater, I started dialing in on my diet more. We had a challenge, where we were challenged to do a 90% plant base diet and eliminate dairy, sugar and processed foods. I noticed a big change right away. We also were challenged to implement internment fasting, and I noticed more changes. Even though, I had cut way back on my alcohol consumption, I have always enjoyed my glass of wine, or a cocktail after a long hard day at work, or at a social event. Our latest challenge to kick off the holiday season, was to eliminate sugar, processed foods and the big one for me, alcohol! I was determined to succeed. I figured out different ways to curve having a glass of wine in my hand. I started drinking more green teas, and sparkling waters (in my wine glass). I soon realized it was having “something” in my hand, not the wine, I was craving.

By making this change, I could not believe how amazing I felt! I started sleeping great and started popping out of bed with the time change to go to the 5:15 am class instead of the 6:00am class. The challenges have created lifestyle changes for me, and I have created positive new habits, meeting my goal weight! I feel amazing inside and out! My transformation all started by getting out of my comfort zone, and making the changes needed to be made. The Coaches and Familia at TFW have helped me with this. They are always there to encourage me to push myself and hold me accountable. I love the positivity and push to be the best version of me.
